If you’ve ever wondered “What’s the best time for beach photos?” — this is one of the most important parts of getting those dreamy, glowing images you see on Instagram.
As a South Florida photographer, I always guide my clients to the perfect timing so your photos feel natural, soft, and full of that coastal magic ✨
Let’s break it down:
☀️ Golden Hour (THE best time)
Golden hour happens right after sunrise and right before sunset—and it’s hands down the most beautiful light for beach photos.
In places like Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach, this light creates:
Soft, warm tones
Glowy skin
Dreamy skies
✨ Why I love it:
This is when I capture that light & airy coastal look my clients love. The sun is low, flattering, and gives everything a romantic feel.
👉 Best choice: Sunset sessions (my most requested!)
🌊 Sunrise Sessions (underrated + peaceful)
Not a morning person? I get it—but sunrise is actually one of the most magical times to shoot.
Beaches in Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale are:
- Less crowded
- Calm and quiet
- Cooler (especially in summer!)
✨ Perfect for:
- Families with little kids
- Couples who want privacy
- Anyone wanting a peaceful vibe
⚠️ Midday Sun (not ideal… but possible)
Midday (11 AM–3 PM) is when the sun is strongest—and honestly, it’s the hardest time for photos.
You’ll get:
- Harsh shadows
- Squinting eyes
- Very bright highlights
But don’t worry—if this is the only time that works, I can still make it happen 🤍
I use:
- Shade when possible
- Angles that soften the light
- Editing techniques to keep your photos beautiful
🌤️ Cloudy Days (a hidden gem)
Cloudy weather might seem like a bad thing—but it’s actually amazing for photos!
Clouds act like a natural filter, giving you:
- Even lighting
- Soft skin tones
- No harsh shadows
✨ Bonus: We can shoot almost any time of day when it’s overcast.
🗓️ Seasonal Tips (South Florida Edition)
Living and shooting in South Florida means the light changes slightly throughout the year:
- Summer: Earlier sunsets + more humidity (sunrise is AMAZING)
- Winter: Softer light + more comfortable weather
- Spring/Fall: Perfect balance of everything 🌴
🤍 My Recommendation
If you want that dreamy, glowing, beachy look, I always recommend:
👉 1 hour before sunset
or
👉 Right after sunrise
That’s when the magic happens ✨
